We are thrilled to share the news that East Coast College has received an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating during our recent inspection, making Lowestoft Sixth Form College part of an amazing Ofsted ‘Good’ college.
The report highlighted strengths in A Level provision, demonstrating that students at Lowestoft Sixth Form College excel both academically and personally, benefitting from a dynamic and enriching learning environment. Students benefit from a rich range of experiences that enhance their courses such as trips, skills competitions, community projects, guest speakers and visits. This encourages and enthuses them in their learning. In A Level Art, students are supported to experiment and develop their independence and personal creative style and they actively participate in projects such as the First Light Festival in Lowestoft, allowing them to showcase their creativity while gaining valuable real-world experience.
Teachers meticulously structure courses to build students’ knowledge, skills, and behaviours, ensuring they are well-prepared for future success. In A-level mathematics, teachers use this information very effectively to set challenging target grades. Students quickly improve their understanding of mathematical concepts.
As a result, the majority of A Level students progress to prestigious university courses, highlighting the impact of the college’s comprehensive and effective careers programme.
