Lowestoft Sixth Form students celebrated their A Level and BTEC results with classmates and teachers as they prepare to progress to the next stage of their journey on high-quality apprenticeship and degree courses.
Kerry Payne, Principal of Lowestoft Sixth Form College, said: “We are once again very proud of our students’ achievements and the hard work and dedication they have demonstrated throughout their studies. Teaching and support staff have expertly helped to unlock student potential, directing each with dedication and expertise. As previous years, this group of students will progress onto fantastic destinations.”
Lee Beales, Director of Lowestoft Sixth Form College, added: ‘’Results day is a day to celebrate here, but the thing that is always inspiring is seeing the determination, resilience, and aspirations of our students. Looking around, it is very clear that they are leaving here with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to be highly successful lifelong learners.”
Students have secured a great range of high-quality apprenticeships including degree apprenticeships in the maritime sector with a BSc Nautical Sciences at Fleetwood University and cadetship with BSc Natural Sciences at Solvent University, an AAT apprenticeship with Lovewell Blake and a degree apprenticeship with National Gas, to name a few.
University progression continues to be very strong with some fantastic degree subjects selected; War Studies and History at Kings College London, Ocean Science at University of Plymouth and Football Coaching and Management with UCFB. The range of degree subjects is vast, from Aerospace Engineering at the University of Sheffield and University of Manchester respectively through to Sports Therapy at Edge Hill University. Progression to medicine and allied health programmes continue to be popular with Social Work, Adult Nursing, Midwifery, Children and Young People’s Nursing and Paramedic Science degrees at a number of universities including University of East Anglia and Derby University. Arts and science progression is also significant with courses in Animation at University of West England (Bristol), Creative Writing and Drama at Bath Spa University and Fine Art at Liverpool Hope University, Maths with Statistics at Loughborough University, Forensic Psychology at University of Sunderland and Sociology at the University of Lincoln.
Ms Payne added: “These are just a few of the vast range of progression success stories from our students who have secured their academic and vocational achievements alongside the development of skills and character needed for their next steps. I am confident that they will continue to build on their successes into the next stage of their lives. They should be very proud of themselves and each other.”
