Outstanding results again for Lowestoft Sixth Form College students.
Students at Lowestoft Sixth Form College achieved impressive A level and BTEC results when they were published on Thursday 16 August 2018.
“We are particularly pleased by the number of students who have achieved very high grades in a range of subjects at A level and BTEC” said Principal Kevin Grieve.
Lowestoft Sixth Form College A level pass rate was 99.7% with 80% achieving A* to C grades and 45% achieving A* to B.
Students on BTEC Extended Diploma courses, equivalent to three A levels achieved a 100% pass rate with 84% achieving top distinction grades.
“Last year the College was judged to be the highest performing Sixth Form College for A level performance and attainment. Our 2018 results are just as outstanding and I am very proud of all the students’ and staff at the College. Lowestoft Sixth Form College students have once again performed significantly better than the national averages for schools and colleges, and have exceeded their own targets based on their GCSE grades. ” said Kevin Grieve Principal
Sixth Form Colleges are the highest performing type of sixth form nationally according to the government. The results show again Lowestoft Sixth Form College is one of the top performing Sixth Form Colleges in the country and the whole county should feel very pleased with our student achievement again this year. Student performance in 2018 demonstrates staff can consistently achieve very high grades with students at the College. We are all very excited about celebrating this achievement in our annual awards evening on 19 December 2018.
The number of young people choosing to study at Lowestoft Sixth Form College continues to grow and we are expecting a record number this Autumn. Students are travelling from an ever wider area to become part of our success. We have excellent teachers and facilities and it is easy to get to the college by bus, rail or cycling.

The sixth form college which recently merged with East Coast College now offers a complete range of provision from A levels through to apprenticeships and higher education. Group Chief Executive, Stuart Rimmer said “A extremely strong posting of results from L6FC. It has once again demonstrated that this outstanding provision is the best sixth form college in the Waveney and East Norfolk area and the best choice for parents and young people seeking a stunning sixth form experience. East Coast College is also now open for higher education clearing places.”
