A College of ‘High Aspirations and Ambition’
Lowestoft Sixth Form College was inspected during 28th April to the 1st May 2015. We are delighted to announce that the College has been awarded a rating of:
Good across all categories and for all subject areas inspected.

- GOOD – Quality of teaching, learning and assessment
- GOOD – Effectiveness of leadership and management
- GOOD – Overall effectiveness
The award of a Grade 2 (Good) across all aspects of provision makes this the best Ofsted rating of any sixth form college in the whole Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth area.
In our previous inspection Ofsted noted that a strength of the College was ‘a dedicated staff team who are determined and committed.’
We have continued to work hard together in partnership with parents/carers to ensure our students achieve their very best. Students impressed inspectors with the standard of their work, their maturity and their ambition. They demonstrated what we know to be true, that students given the right environment can truly excel.
We are also particularly pleased to highlight that that every subject area inspected was awarded a ‘good’ rating, Ofsted inspectors recognised the excellent quality of teaching students receive at Lowestoft Sixth Form College.‘Well- qualified teachers convey their subject with passion and plan stimulating and well- paced learning activities to spark interest. Enthusiastic teachers have high expectations of what students can achieve which motivates students very well. Teachers set high standards and plan learning that matches students’ prior attainment and individual needs well and helps students progress confidently. Teachers make good use of a range of stimulating activities in all lessons. Teachers are motivational and help their students build self-belief.’
We are proud of what we have achieved in just four years since we opened in 2011 and we are ready for the next challenge, as Ofsted says: ‘leaders and managers have a clear vision for the college and are strongly committed to providing an outstanding experience for students.’ We certainly are.
