The Business and Economics department worked collaboratively with the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce to host the Business Networking event. Twenty four Business representatives/employers and entrepreneurs joined the event to give a brief introduction to their organisation, their role within it, how they got started after leaving school/college and what the employment/training opportunities are within it.
For students that are focusing on further studies at University, there were some organisations that have graduate mentoring and training positions.
For other students seeking direct employment or Apprenticeships, there are positions available within some of the organisations that our students can use in the future.
All the businesses that were invited are keen to work with us as a college and wish to establish links with ourselves and our learners for their future. This could be directly with work experience or mentoring programmes, coming to the college as guest speakers, providing interview technique training or facilitating further studies of their organisations through extended projects and degree program case studies.
There was an opportunity to speak on a one to one basis with the delegates after their brief introduction sessions and students could provide them with their CV. We’ve had so many positive comments from the businesses and students involved, it was a fantastic morning and hopefully there will be many more!
