We were proud to be involved with The Beach Local Hero Awards which took place last week. It was a lovely evening hosted at The Cliff Hotel, Gorleston including musical entertainment from Hudson Taylor, Jermaine Jackman and Calvin Goldspink. There was also appearances from The Beach Bunny and Iron Man!
We sponsored one of 16 awards celebrating some of the unsung heroes in the locality, all the winners were nominated by the public. It was great to sit and spend some time with the winner of Charity of the Year (which we sponsored), awarded to the Taylor High Memorial Fund. Since the tragic death of Taylor in 2011, his family has worked tirelessly in his memory with the ‘Taylor High Memorial Fund’ which was given official charity status earlier this year. The fund has reached the 60 thousand pound fundraising milestone.
The ultimate purpose of the charity is for local people to raise money for other local people in need; changing lives and in doing so they also pass on Taylor’s Smile. It was also great to see awards and recognition for Nathan Bowkett (current L6FC student and past pupil at Ormiston Denes Academy) Community Student of the Year and Ryan Holt (former L6FC student now MD of Spark Creative – Web Design, Print Advertising), Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
